Exeter IVC is a small non profit social club and is a branch of the Association of Intervarsity Clubs (AIVC). Association of Inter-Varsity Clubs (AIVC).
What is IVC?
Origins (1946–1947): The concept was conceived in May 1946 at the Scotch House Tea Rooms in Cambridge by undergraduates Michael Wolff and Reggie Simeone.
First Programme: Originally the "Inter-Varsity Vacation Club," its first official programme featured three dances at Chelsea Town Hall in 1947.
Evolution: By 1950, it dropped "Vacation" from its name as its founders graduated and moved to London permanently. It eventually grew into a nationwide institution with over 40 clubs today.
Purpose: They remain member-run clubs offering activities like walking, crazy golf, walking treasure hunts, holidays, and regular fortnightly coffee mornings.
